In a recent online event called “Fantasia Bunko Daikanshasai Online 2023,” Kadokawa shared some exciting news. The “Spy Classroom” light novel series, written by Takemachi, is going to become a stage play in January 2024.

The play will happen from January 20 to 28 at the Ginza Hakuhinkan Theater in Tokyo. If you want to see it, you can enter a ticket lottery that starts on Saturday.

Satoshi Oogita will be in charge of directing the play, and Watashiomu will be writing the script.

The play will feature the following actors:

  • Yui Yokoyama as Lily
  • Fuyuna Asakura as Grete
  • Sena as Sibylla

  • Haruna Ishii as Thea
  • Kaoru Takaoka as Sara
  • Saki Kitazawa as Annett
  • Ui Sakura as Erna

The “Spy Classroom” light novel series also inspired a TV anime, which started airing in Japan on January 5. HIDIVE streamed the anime as it aired, and the second season premiered on July 13, again available for streaming on HIDIVE.

For English-speaking fans, Yen Press is publishing both the light novel series and its manga adaptation. Here’s a brief description of the story:

“After a devastating war, countries now fight secret battles. Klaus, an unusual spy, has never failed a mission, even with his quirks. He’s forming a team for an Impossible Mission with a high chance of failure. But the team members he’s chosen are inexperienced washouts. They’ll need to use every trick in the book, and some that aren’t, to prove they’re up to the task!”

The light novel series, featuring illustrations by tomari, started in January 2020. A manga adaptation by Kaname Seu was launched in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Alive magazine in May 2020.
