These adventurers often lack higher-ranked party members to vouch for the legitimacy of their loot and tend to be less powerful than older adventurers.
Barbarians, like Bjorn, are even more unfairly treated. They face more discrimination than other non-human races, and non-human races aren’t highly regarded either. So, when a lone barbarian with a significant amount of money is involved, it’s easy to spin a tale about his situation.
Chapter 33 Spoilers
Building on Felipe’s spoiler, Bjorn’s mage companion will come to his aid. She will not only help him but also secure better compensation than what he initially expected. It’s revealed that the scheming branch manager saw Bjorn as an easy target and wanted him executed to claim his rewards.
In terms of mechanics, Bjorn’s Guardian Essence allows him to use all the active and passive abilities of the creature it came from. This is different from normal essences, which typically choose one active and one passive ability. So, Bjorn gains all the powers we saw the Vampire use in its battle, except for its dark magic and innate body features.
